Tie Piñata…

The last time I made a piñata, it was on a much smaller scale. Remember these? Let me just say this, I have a whole new found respect for piñata makers. Ok, so I’ve never given piñata makers much thought, but I do now.  Obviously, I want you to try my project, but I feel it necessary to warn you…it can be tedious. This isn’t even full blown paper maché piñata makin’. But, if you’re nitpicky…probably not the best project for you. I am confirmed nitpicky…but, I can also exhibit restraint when crepe paper goes awry. Not really, I’m just a super competitive person and I was not about to let some wrinkly paper take me down. Proceed with caution.

Have you ever heard of seed paper? It’s basically paper pulp with seeds embedded in the fibers. There are several tutorials floating around on the internets. Some are more involved and require a lot more ingredients than I was willing to track down. Knowing this was going to be a kid project, I needed simple with a splash of instant gratification.

My sweet boy Jacks, is graduating Kindergarten this week. Insert proud momma moment here. As a parting, celebratory summer gift to his friends, he will be handing out these confetti packets. My BFF has waited what seems like an eternity for this dress! And she paid for it! She actually ordered a shirt, but I ordered the wrong size. So she decided on a dress instead. I think that was almost 8 months ago. I even told her recently that I just couldn’t make it, no motivation to sew. So true…but, even so…c’mon! I didn’t want to make it, not even for my bestie!! Never, not once did she ask me about the dress. So thanks Steph…for letting me be such a flake and waiting so long without ever a complaint! Finally, yesterday out of nowhere I got inspired to knock this out. I figured since I was gonna do this, why not do a tutorial also? This is going to be a picture heavy post. I like to include as many close up images as I can when doing a sewing tutorial as I think it helps to follow along.
