So i had this idea…
A Craft and a Beetle…
I had all three kids home with me today…can you say FUN?? The whining and fighting started pretty early on…so there was an immediate 86 on the word “Mommy” so instead I got lots of taps on the shoulder … these kids and their loopholes!
I set up a craft for them {I’ll have the deets on that tomorrow}…thinking I might buy myself 30 minutes to work on some orders…yeah…not so much. I’m sure people often wonder…why is her turn around time so long? Well…wonder no further…meet Annabelle Louise {pronounced Luh-WHEESE…as in Thelma & Luh-WHEESE.} Sewing does not happen around this child…not even.
I also started work on Jackson’s paper maché Figeater Beetle…because…and I quote, “I don’t know how to do paper maché.” {Christopher Hinkle, 2012} Did I mention this is due on Friday?
Mini Popcorn Treat Bags…
When I started thinking what I wanted to do for Jackson’s class treats this year, I knew I wanted it to be something different. Because, this is my super busy season…I needed something relatively easy to make and put together. So… I came up with these mini popcorn treats. I designed them to resemble a microwave bag of popcorn, on a smaller scale…and much cuter.

Flashcard garland…
A while back, I stumbled across these United States flash cards at a local thrift store for .25 cents. I have a serious crush on all things United States, plus I absolutely loved the colors of these…so I snatched them up.

Changes plus Macgyver…
If you’ve been following me on Facebook…then you might have seen some of the changes I’ve made recently to Jacks & Kate. You might have noticed my new logo…I adore it! This blog is getting an update as well. Stay tuned for that!
You’ve probably been seeing a lot of new items…
Truth is…I needed a change. If I was to continue sewing…I had to do something different. I just couldn’t sit down one more time and make the same thing 20 times over and over. For the first time in a really long time…I’m actually excited about sewing. I hope you’ll continue to hang around and see where this new journey takes Jacks & Kate.
Now…for something completely unrelated… Savannah…aka Macgyver rigged my filing cabinet again this morning. Her retaliation on me…for making her give a toy back to her sister. Hopefully…she skipped the explosives.
This is Thriller…
I don’t know about you…but as a busy Mom of 3, I’m always looking for those extra time savers to get me through the day. So…when I stumbled across this “Thriller” cheat sheet on Pinterest…I immediately thought…”This is the best pin ever!!!” No..wait…”Pin now…read later!!”…or was it..”THIS IS GENIUS!!!!”
What’s perfect about this…is it’s portability. No more saying…”Damn! I wish there were a way to bring Thriller with me!” You never have to leave home without your moves again. It’s small enough to put in your pocket…your wallet…clip it to a lanyard for instant accessibility. I could be at the ball field cheering Jacks on…chasing Savannah and Annie around…planning a crockpot meal in my head…AND I can still Thriller. Sings: Time Saver!! The best part is…once you start the sequence….all the other parents join in…they know exactly what count to pick up their move…because…that’s how it’s done in the movies.
The only thing that could possibly top this… would be a companion…”Time of my life” card…circa Dirty Dancing. Yep. I could totally do that lift…but…could my husband do that little Johnny jack knife move off the stage? He could probably get air…especially if he was wearing his Dad shorts.
Thriller…it’s not just for the Phillipino inmates any longer.
The Land of Nod stroller seat tutorial…
My sister gave Savannah this stroller from The Land of Nod a couple of Christmas’s ago. She loves it! I love it, because it’s wood and not plastic. It has held it’s own against my kids…but, the fabric seat was starting to show signs of wear. So today…I decided to sew a replacement seat. It was super easy…beginning sewing. The most difficult part would be the zig zag appliqué. Lucky for you…I have a two part tutorial on that also.
Netflix Wars
Confession: I never actually read Fahrenheit 451 as assigned in my High School English class. Before there was Craig’s List…there was Cliff’s Notes…and I totally rocked them in High School…with a companion VHS of course. I’ve never been much of a reader. I cannot get “lost” in the pages. My mind starts to wander aimlessly…and I find myself re-reading the same page/paragraph/sentence over and over again. I’m always a little envious when the latest book craze is on the upswing…because I know…I’m going to have no part of it. Sorry Christian Grey..see you on the big screen!…
Paper Bow Garland
These paper bows are so versatile! I first introduced them to use as pretty packaging in the stamp favor kits. Now, I’m going to show you how to make a paper bow garland. It’s so easy…you won’t believe it!

Hearts will be spinning….{Valentine’s in October}
I was at {all together now}…” Target the other day”…and spotted these adorable wooden tops in…you guessed it…the $1 section. Apparently…I live there! Anyways…I snatched some up…because I thought….what darling little Valentines they would make!…
