This weekend we embarked on a new home improvement project. As much as I would love to keep Annie in her crib for another oh…forever…we will soon be transitioning her to a regular bed. This has always been a game changer in this house. She is a good sleeper and I hope it remains that way. I don’t relish the thought of fighting sleep with a third child nor a tiny, fearless thing roaming the grounds in the middle of the night. Anyway, the stripes are going and in it’s place, a wood plank wall. This is the before. Notice, there wasn’t much there to begin with. Third child and all that. The stripes were even a hand me down from Savannah, the prior tenant.

River Otter Gets an Ascot…
One of my biggest pet peeves is when total strangers try to talk to my kids. I understand they mean well, but we practice “Don’t talk to strangers” in our house. I don’t make any exceptions, not even for the nice elderly lady at the grocery store. Besides, “please” and “thank you”, I don’t want my kids talking to people they don’t know. So when strangers approach my kids and try to make harmless conversation, more often than not, they won’t respond. I usually do the talking and they are quick to chastise me that I shouldn’t talk to strangers. Such was the case today…
Finding inspiration and a paint splattered appliqué…
I have been in such a funk this week. Completely unmotivated to create anything. I always get like that when I’m feeling overwhelmed. Not overwhelmed in the, “I have too many things to do” sense. More like, my brain never shuts off. If you are cut from the creative cloth, then you know what I’m talking about. The ideas…thoughts…plans…they are always running through my mind. They never stop. Literally, I have at least 20 projects waiting to be blogged about. When will I ever find the time? Never! I get so overwhelmed with all of it, because I want to do it all and that has left me feeling uninspired. Until…

24, A Shunning, and a Ruffled Tank Dress…
Lately, I’ve been trying to expand my Netflix horizons beyond the TV series. I never watch regular TV, so I can easily get wrapped up in these series on Netflix. Currently, I’m deep into 24. The series that has no end in the foreseeable future. OMG! Seriously, how did anyone watch this show live? I’ve missed countless episodes..but, it’s like I haven’t missed one.
Jack: Mr. President this is Jack Bauer.
POTUS: Put me through to Jack Bauer.
Jack: Jack Bauer, Mr. President.
POTUS: Jack, it’s David Palmer. Or Charles Logan. Or Wayne Palmer.
Jack: Yes Mr. President.
POTUS: Hi, I’m Mr. President.
Jack: Thank you Mr. President.
Yep…that pretty much sums it up! I’m convinced Jack becomes the POTUS in the last season. Don’t tell me. …
Simple
Most days are a blur in my house. Just like anyone else, I struggle to get it all done. I’ll never get it all done. Life would be easier if I would just accept that. But, knowing me, that’s probably never going to happen. Instead, I have to remind myself to take breaks from the mundane stuff. The stuff that keeps me busy in a tizzy and doesn’t really matter, but it kind of does, because laundry does need to get done and bills do need to get paid. But, sometimes they can wait. Sometimes, you just need simple.

Tshirt Dress Tutorial
My BFF has waited what seems like an eternity for this dress! And she paid for it! She actually ordered a shirt, but I ordered the wrong size. So she decided on a dress instead. I think that was almost 8 months ago. I even told her recently that I just couldn’t make it, no motivation to sew. So true…but, even so…c’mon! I didn’t want to make it, not even for my bestie!! Never, not once did she ask me about the dress. So thanks Steph…for letting me be such a flake and waiting so long without ever a complaint! Finally, yesterday out of nowhere I got inspired to knock this out. I figured since I was gonna do this, why not do a tutorial also? This is going to be a picture heavy post. I like to include as many close up images as I can when doing a sewing tutorial as I think it helps to follow along.

Earth Food
After Easter and my bunny food treats I shared with you last month, I had some leftover supplies. So, I was playing around with making pretzel trees for Earth Day on April 22nd. After a couple of failed attempts, I came up with this super simple earth food treat.

Cloud Pillow Giveaway…
Cloud Pillow Giveaway
So you may or may not have seen my ambitious post on Facebook about making 3 cloud pillows on Easter Eve. Well, you see…one of the perks of having a Mom who can sew is she can make stuff on a whim. She can also concoct grand plans that sometimes, kind of all the time, never come to fruition. Ahhh! Needless to say, nobody ended up with a cloud pillow in their Easter basket. However, I’m powering through and currently have the cloud pillows in the works. Jacks spotted me working on his last night and had a simple request. “Mommy, please finish my pillow tonight. Then, come into my room after I’m asleep and put it by my head.” Obviously this kid suffers from my same delusions. Okay, by the end of this week, all 3 of my loves will own one of these cloud pillows. Maybe. I think. We’ll just see how the week plays out.
