This weekend we embarked on a new home improvement project. As much as I would love to keep Annie in her crib for another oh…forever…we will soon be transitioning her to a regular bed. This has always been a game changer in this house. She is a good sleeper and I hope it remains that way. I don’t relish the thought of fighting sleep with a third child nor a tiny, fearless thing roaming the grounds in the middle of the night. Anyway, the stripes are going and in it’s place, a wood plank wall. This is the before. Notice, there wasn’t much there to begin with. Third child and all that. The stripes were even a hand me down from Savannah, the prior tenant.
Yesterday, I helped chaperone Jackson’s class trip to the Naples Zoo. Of course, it was the hottest, muggiest day of the year so far in Florida. I melted.
When I signed up to chaperone, we were given a choice of meals for lunch. Of the 5, the chicken caesar salad sounded most appealing. NOT. But, I have issues with sandwiches. I’ll save that for another time. I’ve mentioned previously that I have a thing for poultry. Specifically chicken. I am beyond..BEYOND picky about my chicken. I’m especially partial to removing what I call “fake chicken” from my salad. Oh gag. Not only was it fake, but it was loaded with questionable spots and I swear one piece had webbing. I think it was a chicken foot.
Today was pretty low key and free of fake chicken. We actually had these fantastic quinoa zucchini boats I made last night. No pictures, but next time I make them, I’ll put up the recipe.
We headed to the backyard where Savannah and Annie played soccer with their big pink ball. She requested I take pictures and I did, but most of them turned out like this. Blurry action shots. It started to rain, so we headed in where I started the beginnings of a project for Cinco de Mayo. As a friend of mine posted today, “Why can’t I just learn to relax like other people?”
Somewhere between the backyard and naptime. I heard a howling scream from the back room. The kind of scream that makes you run, instead of waiting for them to find you {I know my screams.} Annie had pinched her finger in the closet door and in an attempt to free herself, yanked her finger out and ripped off some of her skin. It was awful, but I managed not to panic and get her bandaged up.
After I got Annie down for a nap, I started pulling fabrics for a 5 week quilt along {again with the relaxing thing} I’m participating in with lots of other people on Facebook. This will only be my 2nd quilt. Not really a lover of the quilt making process, but I liked the idea of doing it with others there to encourage you. What do you think so far?
And then there’s this little gem. Lately, every time I walk into Annie’s room, this jogging stroller is positioned on the balcony of the dollhouse. Empty. Just sitting there….á la The Changeling. It creeps me out, so I always push it back in the dollhouse…only to return later and find it like this again. Someone is messing with me.
