I’ve been making this snack mix for a few years now. This is my most favorite chex snack mix recipe! Be forewarned….if you make it…you will eat it…you will eat lots of it! Yep, it’s that addictive. When I first stumbled onto this recipe, I made some changes and additions. Somewhere along the way, I made a mistake in one key ingredient. It was a mix up…the big Chex mix up.
A friend of mine asked for the recipe after having tried it at Savannah’s 3rd birthday party. I had a copy in the kitchen drawer, so I just gave her that. About a week later she texted me saying it wasn’t as good as mine. Well, of course. Kidding. Anyway, I looked at the recipe that I typed up on my computer and it was exactly the same as I had given her. I texted her all the ingredients again. Blah..blah…1/4 tsp baking soda. Wait a minute…I’ve been using baking powder! I’m forever mixing up these two ingredients, which usually results in an epic fail. I guess this time it paid off. I have never tried it with the baking soda. I just took her word that the baking powder recipe was better.
