Dear children: Here’s the deal. Sometimes, when I’m really tired, because it’s 11 pm…and I’m so over hearing your sweet, little voices I may agree to buy you something in exchange for you going to sleep. This includes, but is not limited to a dog, a nemo, a crocodile, and 2 turtles. Please don’t expect to actually go to the pet store upon you waking up the following morning at 6 am. You will be disappointed to learn that your mother tricked you. Sorry. I’m crafty that way…but, hey… here’s some personalized candy packs! Are we good?
I have a pretty vast collection of party napkins. Don’t be jealous. A lot of them, only have a few left in a pack. I can’t stand to throw away cute party supplies, so I made these instead. I had previously seen kraft candy paper packs on pinterest. I took it a step further and embellished it with an appliqué initial. Fashioned from my stash of party napkins and dollar store roll of kraft paper…I think they turned out pretty darn cute.
If you can sew, this is pretty elementary. I used a straight stitch, instead of my normal zig zag stitch.
Here are the supplies I used:
- Assortment of party napkins
- Kraft paper {$1 for a roll at Dollar Tree}
- Letter templates
- Scissors
- Glue stick
- Small bowl
- White crayon or chalk
- Candy {don’t use anything too oily, or you will start getting grease marks. I used M & M’s, and had a few small ones}
- Sewing machine
On the unprinted side of the napkin, trace backwards letters.
Carefully cut out letters.
Depending on size of your packets, cut kraft paper accordingly.
Fold over paper, use bowl and white crayon to trace circle template.
Dab glue stick on the backside of initial. Paper is flimsy, just dab glue or it will tear.
Secure to center of circle, and appliqué using a straight stitch.
Sew around the perimeter of the circle, leaving 1.5 inches open.
Fill with candies and sew up opening.
That’s it…pretty simple I told you… I love the idea of doing some of these for family movie night!

July 3, 2013 at 3:30 pmI am beyond obsessed with these!!! If you had to guess how long each of these took you what would you say? I am planning a wedding and I just think these would be the cutest favors! But I can’t sew (YET) so I don’t want to bite off more than I can chew 🙂

July 3, 2013 at 4:39 pmThank you!! Realistically, you could do one in about 15 minutes. That’s including tracing and cutting letters. Good luck!!
