I’ll be the first to admit, I’m not a fan of confetti. It gets everywhere! Isn’t that the point? However, I’m obsessed with making this confetti! It’s so easy! Plus, I think it’s just a fun way to mark a celebration.
I have a good friend that always adds little confetti to every card she sends. It used to drive me crazy, until I got smart and started opening it over a piece of paper. Ha! One of the things I like best about this confetti, is it’s pretty easy to clean up. Okay, so the little gold stars, not so much.
The first time I did this, I sent it as a parting summer gift to my son’s classmates. This time, I thought it would be fun to mail a July Fourth confetti toss to friends and family.
These are watercolors, so the colors are going to be muted a bit. If you want a deeper color, just add less water.
Supplies I used:
- Liquid watercolors
- Eyedroppers
- Scissors
- Plain white napkins
- Gold confetti stars
- Envelopes
- Freebie printable {found at the end of this post}
Unfold your napkin once.
Using the eyedropper, make sporadic drops of color on the napkin.
When finished, unfold all the way and hang to dry.
After it has completely dried, grab a corner and separate the two layers.
At this point you should have two napkins.
Fold napkin back to it’s original size.
Cut off the 2 sides with folds and the remaining 2 sides with ridges.
Cut into individual 1/4 inch strips.
Cut confetti.
Add gold stars and card to confetti.
Stuff into envelopes for mailing.
