Using my backyard as the setting, I created an outdoor theater for my kids. We just recently finished reading Dragons Love Tacos and I thought it would be so fun to bring it to life!
The decorations were simple and mostly things I already owned. I used wrapping paper from the $1 section at Target as table runners draped over tables I moved outside. A mix of napkins and plates from previous parties fit right in. Taco shells turned upside down on a string of outdoor with tinsel string and coffee filter hearts made the perfect bunting.
The food was simple as well. I knew there would be tacos…so I decided to make it a fiesta of sorts.
Cupcakes and these mini sombreros I designed made an easy and nice addition to the sweets…

Tacos and blackbeans served as the main course…
The cupcakes were Annabelle approved…
The “theatre” was a white table cloth strung between two trees…
A little mini concession stand where the kids could fill their bags with treats before the show…
After the sun went down, the show began. Using shadow puppets, the story of Dragons Love Tacos came to life…

The kids having fun with the puppets after the show…
The kids had a blast and I’m thinking of making this a regular thing using different books. What do you think? Is this something you could/would do?
